The goal of the National Institute of Research in Nursing (NINR) is to support and enhance the well being of patients, families, and societies. To fulfill this goal, NINR promotes and facilitates clinical and fundamental health and disease study and educational curriculum that incorporates and combines the behavioral and biological sciences, and establishes the theoretical foundation for clinical practice. It is focused on:

  • Improve wellness education and avoiding diseases.
  • Improve the quality of living when treating severe and chronic illness effects.
  • Enhance palliative treatment and end-of-life diagnosis.
  • Enhance research and functional progress.
  • Create the next century of scientist nurses.

I agree with the nursing priorities in the NINR strategic plan because it emphasizes priorities of

  • Enhance Innovation: Health Management Technology
  • Nursing Scientists in the 21st Century: Innovative research careers approaches

The NINR notes that the nursing development program “looks to utilize the capabilities of nursing science to promote an optimistic work strategy that can address existing and potential healthcare requirements and foresee possible health issues and goals.” Nurses eager to take on this mission will help define the healthcare potential.
